Project Spotlight: Alexandria Residence Backyard Transformation

The landscape designers, craftsmen, and horticulturists at Botanical Decorators recently completed a project in Alexandria, VA that resulted in a complete backyard transformation. The project featured landscape plants, detailed stonework, and an outdoor patio that’s perfect for entertaining, among other things.

The focal point of the patio design centers on the outdoor fireplace that can create warmth and light for evening parties. Patio furniture is positioned by the fireplace in a semi-circle so our clients can easily chat with friends and family or enjoy a glass of wine and relax.

An outdoor dining area was built around the corner so our clients can still enjoy the ambiance from the fireplace while preparing food or eating dinner.

We also included landscape lighting to set the mood for an outdoor party or a romantic evening by the fireplace. Our landscape designers used certain lighting techniques that particularly enhance the trees and plantings surrounding the patio.

As you leave the outdoor patio, a custom walkway lined with plants and grasses leads you through the landscape to a doorway. Planters holding colorful flowers are positioned on either side of the entry way, adding beauty and guiding you into the home.

The walkway continues to guide visitors through the property where colorful flowers, lush trees, shrubs, and grasses flourish. At one point, you’re led to steps and a courtyard style area. Blue and purple flowers blossom on the edge of the stonework and steps, creating visual interest around this open space.

Garden designs also surround a custom fountain that further enhances the look and feel of the yard in this backyard transformation project.
