Project Description:
Due to well and septic restrictions and forest conservation reserve areas this pool project had to be developed in the most unlikely part of the property; at the end of the driveway on the sloped part of the yard, off to the side of the house. Most design build firms would have cringed, we thought this otherwise unusable part of the yard was the perfect spot; in the end we had a much more interesting project. The hillside became the perfect canvas for plantings that could be enjoyed from both the deck and the pool area. The walls, walks, and landing brought architectural interest and gave our masons the ability to show off their craft. The pool would now feel nestled in and avoided that look of just being stuck in the yard. And lastly, the wood line became part of the landscape.
The deck and porch were curved to lead the eye around to the pool. The deck railings were black metal so not to block the view of the pool. The screwed and plugged Ipé decking couldn’t be better built or more refined. The lower level covered patio is so refined, with its hand built columns, heavy box beams, crown moldings, coach lamps and ceiling fans.
The color palette was selected for seasonal interest through the year. The groups of perennials & ornamental grasses give a calming effect, and seasonal interest is abundant throughout the landscape & the planters. The design of the stone walls, steps, deck and the pool unite through the angular alignment & crossover views. Details such as bull nosed cap & coping stone, plugged decking, custom trim & curved railings, all contribute to the fine craftsmanship that makes this project a success.
